 Symptoms are the EFFECTS  that surface on the physical body of the concerned individual and demand attention for cure, treatment or therapy.

Story is the actual reason(s) or CAUSES  which is the main underlying factor responsible  for the unrest present in the individual at one or many levels .

What is a Breakdown ?

It  implies a complete collapse of a normal life and it’s basic  functioning & operations.

 Sometimes, it occurs for a very   short span of time and does not   fundamentally have a lasting   impact on one’s life – such times   are not cause for concern.

 But, when these dysfunctions   take   places regularly and for   longer durations, significantly   impacting   daily lifestyle   requirements, then   it is deemed a   Mental/Nervous   breakdown

What triggers Mental Breakdown?

Mental Breakdown is caused by the inability to cope with large amounts of stress, which can result in overwhelming thoughts and emotions like fears, anxiety, depression, agitation, crying, rage and many such unsettling behaviours.

Why do Mental breakdown occur?

Mental Breakdowns occur due to a changed perception of the brain in viewing, accepting and handling certain factors that tend to cause unbearable and uncontrollable surge of emotions and thoughts that are unpleasant.

When do Mental Breakdown happen?

When the concerned individual comes in physical or mental contact with certain people, events, places or things that seem to connect to some pre-existing unpleasant or disturbing ideas, experiences or memories that the individual gets reminded of , a Mental Breakdown is triggered.

What exactly happens during a Mental Breakdown?

During a breakdown, the affected person experiences a complete loss of control of conscious functioning and tends to get dominated by disturbing and unsettling thoughts and emotions, ideas and feelings that manifest in certain physical symptoms like excessive sweating, palpitations, pressure/ pain in the chest region, weakness in legs, brain fog, crying, fear/worry with regard to a possible outcome of the current events , in ability to be present to the moment - in a nut shell a time frame of complete/ partial collapse.

How long do Mental Breakdown last?

Mental Breakdowns can last from a few hours to a few weeks.

Do all age groups experience breakdowns?

Mental Breakdowns (Repeated Meltdowns) can manifest across all age groups in various ways due to a multitude of reasons like:

  1. Biological Factors like a being on the spectrum of a clinical condition partially/ completely, physiological challenges like being differently abled /any dysfunction, Cognitive issues like learning disabilities.
  2. Social Factors like family environment, school environment, peers, social status, etc.
  3. Temperamental /Emotional Factors like excessive sensitivity, belief systems, etc.
  4. Economic Factors like unemployment, work related stress, insufficient funds as per needs, etc.
  5. Person Centric Factors like any particular individual like a teacher, friend, associate, boss, maybe even the self etc.
  6. Unspecified Factors: Many other reasons that may not be specified above but are relevant to the person affected.
